Afikpo Organization, Inc. (AOI) is the apex organization for Afikpo people in the United States of America. AOI is registered with the State of Iowa and the IRS as a nonprofit, 501(c) 3 organization.
What became AOI started as Afikpo Development Association (ADA) in 1993 with members drawn from the tri-state New York / New Jersey / Connecticut area. ADA’s goals were to unite and support its members and occasionally assist those in the homeland. As it grew in size to include members and supporters across the United States and beyond, the association’s goals also expanded to include cultural education and humanitarian services as key priorities.
Our goals include improving/preserving the quality of life, dignity and culture of Afikpo people by:
- Providing free medical care for indigent patients through the annual medical missions. To learn more, click here.
- Promoting the rich cultural heritage of Afikpo people at home and in Diaspora. To learn more, click here.
- Promoting the unity and philanthropic spirit of its members.
