Dr. Umennachi to Speak on Okumkpo Masquerade
Dr. Nnachi Umennachi is billed to deliver a presentation about the Okumkpo masquerade to an audience at the Seattle Museum in Washington State. The presentation is titled Okumkpo Masquerade as Investigative Journalism in Afikpo. The Seattle Arts Museum, which is hosting the event, is excited about having Dr. Umennachi as a speaker on this topic.
Dr. Ummennachi’s presentation is expected to cover the role played by the Okumkpo masquerade as the moral conscience of the community, the promoter of political unity and good leadership, the public exposé of hidden, clandestine activities and a method of investigative journalism. The presentation will also discuss how masquerades function within Afikpo political and social systems; and how wearing a mask can imbue authority, power and immunity.
The event is scheduled for July 31, 2015 from 3 pm–4:30 pm at the Seattle Arts Museum.
This event is free and open to the public.
